WellCare of North Carolina Marketplace Plans Ending December 31, 2025

WellCare of North Carolina by Celtic Insurance Company has announced that it will discontinue its Marketplace (ACA) health plans effective December 31, 2025.

WellCare of North Carolina is working closely with its provider network partner Claritev to ensure providers have the information and resources needed to support a smooth transition. Impacted members have been notified directly about their Marketplace plan ending and received guidance on choosing a new plan through Healthcare.gov for coverage beginning in 2026.

• We are a Participating Provider with WellCare of North Carolina’s Medicaid and/or Medicare health plans. Will my contract with WellCare of North Carolina be affected?
  

  No. Your contract with WellCare of North Carolina will not be affected by this change. If you are participating in the WellCare of North Carolina provider network for Medicaid and Medicare services, those contracts will remain active.

• How will members/patients be notified of their Marketplace plan ending?
  

  WellCare of North Carolina by Celtic Insurance Company will send a letter to members of their choices for selecting a new plan if they qualify for marketplace coverage in 2026. The letter will include HealthCare.gov open enrollment information and other resources for members.

• What is the process for checking claims after 2025?
  

  For the current plan year, WellCare of North Carolina by Celtic Insurance Company is responsible for processing claims with dates of service through December 31, 2025. Our secure provider portal with resources related to billing and claims processes will remain available to you through early 2027 during runout operations.

• How will WellCare of North Carolina support the timely filing requirements for providers submitting claims for services provided through 2025?
  

  WellCare of North Carolina by Celtic Insurance Company will maintain resources on its secure provider portal through the runout period, between January 1, 2026 - June 1, 2027. In addition, marketplace.wellcarenc.com will remain active until June 1, 2027. Our contact information will remain the same.
